In collaboration with a tourist agency KOMPAS Postojna, DEMSEE local organizing committee has prepared the following tourist trips:


Accompanying person programme

A whole-day trip to Ljubljana and Skofja Loka (20. September 2011)

From Bled transfer by bus to Ljubljana, the cultural, historical, academic, economic and political centre of Slovenia. Walk through the streets of baroque city centre, by the banks of the river Ljubljanica, under a medieval castle to the marketplace. A funicular ride to Ljubljana castle and visit the museum with multivision and the Outlook tower. Lunch (3 course menu) in a local restaurant in the center of Ljubljana. On the way back to Bled stop off in the famous medieval town of Skofja Loka, one of the oldest and most beautiful medieval towns in Slovenia. Skofja Loka used to be the centre of numerous sophisticated handicrafts. Walk through the narrow streets and squares with most interesting architecture and visit to the museum in the castle of Skofja Loka. Return to Bled at 6 p.m.

A half-day trip to Bohinj (21. September 2011)

A guided half-day tour will take us with bus from Bled towards the Bohinj lake resort and its surrounding areas, famous for their unspoilt nature. We will take a short walk to the famous 78-metre high Savica Waterfall. Afterwards we will continue the trip towards the village of Stara Fuzina and visit a small local Museum of alpine dairy farming and taste some local specialities (cheese kanape: home made bread, 3 types of cheese, dry fruits, appetiser). Return to Bled.



Other tourist trips

A whole-day trip to Piran, Postojna and Predjama (22. September 2011)

From Bled drive by bus to the Primorska region. Slovenia has only slightly more than 40 km of coastline and we will visit the most beautiful coastal town of Piran, lying on a peninsula. A guided tour of Piran will include the Cathedral of St. George and the Tartinijev trg square, named after the Italian composer and violinist Guiseppe Tartini. Lunch with local specialities (3 course menu) in a farmhouse near Postojna. In the afternoon, we will visit the world famous and biggest cave complex Postojnska jama. A small cave train will take us into the depths of the cave. Next we will visit the Predjama Castle. It literally hangs in the middle of its 123 metre high rocky cliff. Drive back to Bled in the evening.

A whole-day trip to Maribor and Ptuj (23. September 2011)

A whole-day trip will take us to the east of Slovenia. First, we will visit Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia, situated on the banks of the Drava river, in the middle of a hilly winegrowing area. Maribor is renowned, among other things, for the world's oldest vine, planted 440 years ago. We will have a wine tasting session in local wine celler. Lunch (3 course menu) in local restaurant Pri treh ribnikih. In the afternoon we will visit Ptuj, the oldest Slovenian city with 12th century Ptuj Castle and museum inside it (entrance fee included). We will admire also the Old Town Hall. Return to Bled.
